Terms of Service
Last updated: 6 October 2026
Sessions.scot ("Sessions.scot", "we", "us", or "the Service") is a community-run directory of traditional-music sessions across the world, bringing together venues, tunes, and recurring sessions on a shared calendar.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Service. By using Sessions.scot, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
For how we handle information about you, see our Privacy Statement.
1. Using Sessions.scot
Anyone may browse and search sessions without an account. To create or edit sessions, add yourself as a host, add tunes or tags, mark that you are going, or comment, you need to sign in and set up an account.
You must be old enough in your country to agree to these Terms. The Service is not directed at children under 13, and you should not use it if you are under that age.
2. Your account and public name
You sign in through a third-party identity provider, which holds your email address on our behalf; we never ask for a password. We store the public display name you choose, which is shown on sessions you create, host, or comment on.
You are responsible for activity carried out under your account. Do not impersonate anyone, and do not choose a public name that is misleading, offensive, or infringes someone else's rights.
3. Community content
Sessions.scot is collaborative. Session listings, venues, tunes, tags, and comments are contributed and edited by users. Unless a session has been locked by a host or moderator, other signed-in users may edit details you add, so your contributions may be changed, combined with others' contributions, or removed.
You keep any rights you hold in what you contribute. By contributing, you grant us and other users a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, display, adapt, and share that content within the Service so that it can operate. You confirm that you are entitled to contribute what you post.
4. Acceptable use
When using the Service, you must not:
- post false, misleading, or spam session or venue information;
- post unlawful, defamatory, harassing, hateful, or obscene content;
- infringe anyone's intellectual-property or privacy rights;
- post another person's private or personal information without their consent;
- impersonate any person or organisation, or misrepresent your affiliation with one;
- disrupt, overload, scrape, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service;
- use the Service for advertising or commercial promotion unrelated to a genuine session.
5. Moderation, suspension, and removal
Moderators may edit or delete content, lock sessions, and suspend or ban accounts — temporarily or permanently — where these Terms are breached or the community is harmed. We may remove content or restrict access at our discretion, and we are not obliged to host or retain any particular content.
6. Accuracy of session and venue information
Session times, venues, and other details are supplied by the community and may be incomplete, out of date, or wrong. Always check with the venue or organiser before travelling. We do not verify listings and are not responsible for sessions that are cancelled, moved, or not as described.
7. Third-party services
Sessions.scot relies on third-party services, including map tiles and geocoding derived from OpenStreetMap and its providers, and sign-in through a third-party identity provider. Your use of those services is subject to their own terms, and we are not responsible for them.
8. Our intellectual property
The Sessions.scot name, look and feel, and the software behind the Service are owned by us or our licensors. These Terms do not grant you any right to use our branding except as needed to use the Service in the ordinary way.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including as to fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sessions.scot and the people who run it will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss, or for any loss arising from your use of — or inability to use — the Service, from content contributed by users, or from attending any session listed. Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
11. Changes to the Service and these Terms
We may update the Service and these Terms from time to time. When we change the Terms, we will update the date shown at the top of this page. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the law of Scotland, and the courts of Scotland have non-exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them or from your use of the Service.
13. Contact
